The Prykarpattia School of Physics as a Phenomenon in Scientific and Educational Evolution

Abstract

One of the scientific schools of Prykarpattia is famous for is the School of Physics. Its formation and development is directly related to the birth of a teacher's institute in Stanislavov in March 1940, which consisted of three faculties: history, philology, and physics and mathematics. At the beginning of the XXI century. within the scope of studying physics and the methodology of teaching physics at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, several scientific directions and schools were formed, which have a significant impact on national theoretical and applied science. The peculiarity of the Carpathian School of Physics is that, in addition to fundamental research, its representatives paid special attention to the methodology of teaching physics, which was actually a key guarantee in the process of forming separate scientific schools. The creation and activity of the latter is associated with the names of such scientists as P. Kyrychok, H. Haiduchok, I. Kucheruk,  D. Freik, B. Ostafychuk, I. Klymyshyn and others. Analyzing the main traditions of the Carpathian School of Physics, one should pay attention to the presence of local scientists in common and different approaches to the interpretation of methods and principles of training future theoreticians-scientists and teachers. These principles depended both on the personal factor and on the socio-political conditions and chronological boundaries in which they were implemented. The latter is evidence of the evolution of theoretical approaches, and allows us to talk about the dynamics of the development of pedagogical techniques that have been tested by local physicists and astronomers
