Media as triggers of social conflict: Ukrainian realities

Abstract

The article examines the main aspects of the media's influence on the nature of social conflicts. The most common mechanisms of mass media manipulation of mass consciousness are revealed, constructive and destructive consequences of their influence on the consciousness of citizens and their conflict potential are determined. The author considers some aspects of changing the nature of social conflicts under the influence of the media, recorded conditions (degree of tension between the parties to the conflict, their nature), factors of politicization of social conflicts: the transition to the stage of public discussion, scale.
