Abstract

The article discusses the changes of the Russian Federation foreign policy in the modern international arena, which has occurred since the annexation of the Crimea and the intervention of pro-Russian militants in the Donbass. Since that time, since 2014, the world community has responded to such actions with a squall of indignation and imposed appropriate sanctions. After these events, the West realized that it was impossible to pursue a policy of appeasement with Russia and introduced more stringent measures that included freezing the assets of Russian citizens and restrictions on trade. The article focuses on the attitude of Russia to the sanctions of Western countries and its reaction to them, as it causes the most aggravation of relations since the Cold War.
