Abstract

The article analyzes a number of approaches to interpreting communication as a political and social form of interaction, as an element of the functioning of the political system. The basic theories of political communication, starting from the XX century and the role of political communications as a driving force for social change. Political communication theory explains the purposeful processes in which elected and appointed leaders, the media, and public citizens use messages to construct meaning about political practices. The article uses a systematic approach to investigate the role of political system institutions in shaping the distinctive features of the public sector of communication sphere. Methods of analysis and synthesis were the most widely used among the general scientific methods.
