Abstract

The article examines the main principles of minarchism as a current of right-wing liberal thought. The existence of human rights appears to be an axiomatic statement of all liberal ideologies. Basic principles of minarchism logically deriving from the human rights concept are the following: non-aggression principle, anti-statism, individualism, night- watchman state and spontaneous order concepts.

This paper also studies the level of basic human rights protection in Ukraine as well as suggests some of the possible means for the implementation of minarchism principles in this area. The later include: legalization of euthanasia and soft drugs; abolition of military conscription and the moratorium on sale of agricultural land; legalization of firearms among civilians; development of Ukrainian stock market; restriction of the issues regulated by the
Labour Code; licensing and certification cuts.

Additionally, the analysis of socio-economic advantages of libertarian transformations in Ukraine is also conducted in this work. Improvement of investment climate, liberalization of conditions of labour and entrepreneurial activities, extension of individual freedoms and reduction of black market are among them.
Finally, the suggestions made in this article should be considered by the Ukrainian authority, taking into account comparatively low level of human rights protection and potential advantages of libertarian reforms for Ukraine`s political and socio-economic development.
