The author presents concise mini-portraits of sixteen writers who lived or currently live and work in the Zhytomyr region, contributing to the field of Ukrainian children’s literature. Their contribution to the development of national children’s literature is clearly outlined. The study not only identifies the most significant works by these authors (both about children and for children), but also proposes forms and methods for engaging with poems, stories, and fairy tales in work with children, as well as with adult audiences - teachers, mentors, and parents. The impact of these works on readers and listeners of different age groups is particularly emphasized. Special attention is devoted to the nationally oriented character of children’s literature created by writers of the Drevlyan region. Their works are shown to play an important role in shaping the younger generation. Through books encountered in childhood, young readers develop not only intellectual curiosity, thoughtfulness, responsibility, kindness, honesty, and diligence, but also courage, resilience, a sense of national dignity and pride, and a deep historical memory. Such literature fosters a generation prepared to consciously defend its native land. This concise review of children’s literature produced by authors of the Drevlyan land (Zhytomyr region) is addressed primarily to philologists, teachers of Ukrainian language and literature, preschool educators, psychologists, social workers, and parents. It aims to provide relevant and practical information for use in formal educational settings - classes and lessons - as well as in extracurricular activities, including conferences, seminars, literary clubs, meetings, and cultural events. Familiarity with the works of these writers affirms the self-sufficiency and artistic value of Ukrainian children’s literature. It therefore deserves to be read, studied, and actively promoted both within Ukraine and internationally.
