Focus and Scope
Children’s Literature: Interdisciplinary Discourse is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes the results of fundamental and applied research on children’s literature as an artistic-aesthetic and sociocultural phenomenon; texts addressed to young readers and the contexts of their functioning from interdisciplinary perspectives; as well as the children’s book as a product of publishing activity, a verbal and visual embodiment of the author’s intention, and an object of reader interaction.
The scope includes, but is not limited to:
- theory and history of children’s literature;
- literary analysis of texts for children and young adults;
- linguistic aspects of children’s literature studies;
- comparative and intercultural studies;
- translation studies of children’s literature;
- interaction of verbal and visual components in children’s literature (illustration, book design, multimodality);
- reception, reading, and interpretation of texts for children and young adults;
- the children’s book as a publishing and cultural product;
- media adaptations and digital formats of texts for young readers;
- the educational potential of children’s literature.
The journal is aimed at advancing contemporary research in the field of Humanities and Arts (specialty B11 Philology) and supports interdisciplinary approaches that expand conceptual, methodological, and interpretative possibilities.
The primary focus is on the philological analysis of children’s literature, particularly within literary studies, linguistics, and translation studies. Interdisciplinarity is ensured through the application of approaches and methods from cultural studies, pedagogy, art studies, as well as media and communication studies.
The journal publishes original research articles and review papers that represent contemporary theoretical approaches, innovative methodologies, and interdisciplinary interpretations of children’s literature.
The publication is intended for scholars, early-career researchers (including PhD students), and professionals working in the fields of education, culture, and publishing.
