Abstract

The author emphasizes the need of study of the museum treasures and artifacts for the purpose of preserving the national cultural heritage. The article based on the analysis of a wide range of historical sources and literature and describes the specifics of the museum institutions activity in the Carpathian region of the postwar period.

The official strategy, forms and methods of Soviet ideological control over the spheres of culture and museum business are highlighted. The article discloses a process of reorganization of the museum network in the Stanislav region in the second half of the 1940s and the beginning of the 1960s.

Also the author analyzed Soviet policy towards museum workers in the region, their activity under the pressure of the punitive system of  Stalin’s regime.

Achievements and drawbacks of the Ukrainian museum business in the Carpathian region of the postwar period are revealed.
