Abstract

This article describes the role of Ukrainian Greek-Catholic clergy in establishing and guiding the organization of “Prosvita”. In their work, the organization kept and followed the principles of Christian morality on which the priests had a big influence. A big role in the formation and development of the community elongs to Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky who not only preached the word of God but also helped financially. “Prosvita” was the first organization on the basis of which many other organizations were created, such as: “Sokil”, “Plast”,“Sich”,“Luh” etc. Thesis. In the 150 years since the creation of “Prosvita”, we can see a big role of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and the influence it had on the establishment and guidance of this organization. In result, of this influence is the spread and preservation of the Ukrainian language, culture, textbooks, scholarships for students and the revival of Galician villages in the national and spiritual direction and
education of the young generation
