Abstract

Modern upheavals in the process of the formation and development of the Ukrainian state are encouraging, once again, to turn to the bitter experience of the historical past.

And it teaches that the hope for an objective move of the state creation of a great European nation does not give grounds for neglecting of the elementary measures that lead to the adoption of a national dictatorship  in front of the external and internal challenges that have disorganized Ukrainians for centuries.

Therefore, the analysis of events and the laying on a historical parallel will contribute to the understanding of the past, the realization of the present and actually predicting of future in affirming of the independent statehood of Ukraine as a European and world geopolitical power.

Historical memory calls for struggle, so as not to repeat the fate of the predecessors – the victims of the tragic twentieth century, which led to the genocide of Ukrainians, which extirplated half of the population of Ukraine during 20th century.
