The possibilities of the metaphysical theory of personality in the process of teaching historical disciplines are analyzed and the ontological approach to the understanding of historical events, the content of which is the transformation of impersonal forms of social being in the personality, is formulated. The constructive potential of the metaphysical theory of personality is proved on the examples of Ukrainian history. Based on the analyzed results of the Ukrainian hetmans (military commander) activity, it was reproduced their motives and revealed to what extent they realized and were guided by the state interest. Based on the facts and examples from history, it was analyzed the variants of human relations of different degrees of spiritual development and proved that the example of a mature person positively influences the life activity of both the individual and the nation as a whole. History is still impersonal, which has exhausted itself both in Ukraine and in the world. The metaphysical theory of personality requires self-determination of both the individual and the nation as a whole. The recognition of the role of the individual in socio-political life shall be the life basic of the nation. It is grounded that the condition for the transformation of the impersonal paradigm of human existence into a personal one is the priority of personality, which in fact is a personalist revolution. The tragedy of the situation lies in the fact that neither philosophers nor historians realize the need for the transformation of the impersonal paradigm of human existence into a personal one. It is proved that the analysis of socio-political and spiritual qualities of historical figures through the prism of the metaphysical theory of personality will promote to a more meaningful understanding of history, and the spiritual development of a young person. It is substantiated that the real subject of history is a person – the figure or character, who is guided by the interests of society and the state. The subject of research of a scholar historian shall be the conflict between the impersonal and the personal, which makes the essence of historical events. The self-concept of the historian in the conditions of necessity to transform the impersonal paradigm of human existence into a personal one is formulated.
