Information For Authors
1. General editorial requirements
The journal covers the history of Ukraine, world history, archaeology, ethnology, special historical disciplines, everyday history, local history, etc.
Articles are published in Ukrainian, Polish, and English.
Previously unpublished scientific articles, publications, documents, and monuments, bibliographic and source reviews, reviews of new publications, and reports on scientific events are accepted for publication.
The editorial board adheres to the policy of open access to published material. Users can read, download, and copy materials provided that the author and source are mentioned. When reprinting materials, a reference to this publication is mandatory. The authors of the publications are responsible for the accuracy of facts, quotes, names, and other data.
All articles submitted to the editorial office undergo an independent confidential review procedure (quality of research, originality, novelty, structure of the article). Only in the event of a positive review is the article published in the journal. Articles are reviewed by experienced scientists, specialists in the research problem. Within two weeks from the moment of submission of the text, the author is notified that he has been admitted to the review process or has not been admitted due to non-compliance with the requirements for the article design. Each work (after its anonymization) is evaluated by one of the editors of the collection. After receiving a positive response, the text is sent to two independent reviewers who are not members of the editorial board. In the case of a negative review, this information is communicated to the author, and the publication process is completed with a negative result. In the case of a negative review, the author receives a review of the submitted text (after removing the reviewer's name) and information that the publication process has been completed with a negative result for him.
Manuscripts returned to authors for revision must be returned to the editorial board in a revised form within the specified period.
In case of non-compliance with the specified rules, the editorial board will not consider the submitted manuscript. The editorial board reserves the right to technically shorten and edit manuscripts.
Materials should be sent to the editorial board's email address: ludyna@ukr.net (file name - author's surname in Latin letters, for example, vasylenko.doc).
Volume – up to 20–50 thousand characters (with spaces).
Materials should be sent in Word format (doc, .rtf), font – Times New Roman, size – 14, line spacing – 1.5. If other fonts are used, they must be added.
Page parameters: A4 format, all margins – 2 cm, paragraph – set in the menu “Basic > paragraph > special indent” – 1.0 cm.
The main text should be formatted in width and without word breaks.
Each abbreviation (or abbreviation) should be entered in the text in brackets after the first mention of the corresponding full phrase and only then can it be used.
The names of researchers should be submitted in full in Ukrainian for the first time, and in brackets, indicate the original language. For example: Paul Robert Magosci, Andreas Kappeler, Ryszard Tomczyk, etc.
Distinguish between a hyphen (–) and a hyphen (-). A hyphen is a sign that connects parts of compound words. When printed, it is marked with a small horizontal line (-) and is not separated from words by spaces. A hyphen is a punctuation mark used to indicate direct speech, pauses. A hyphen in the text must be separated by spaces on both sides.
The apostrophe should look like this – ’ .
Years that do not coincide with the calendar year should be given through a slash (1994/1995; 2008/2009 budget year).
Citations should be presented only in quotation marks – ". If there is a quotation within a quotation, then use double quotation marks «“…”».
Separate with a continuous space (simultaneous pressing of the Ctrl+Shift+Space keys) signs and letters to designate volumes, parts, paragraphs, items, numbers, pages, percentages, degrees, etc. from the next digit (§ 1; T. 1; P. 5–6; 14%; No. 4); generally accepted designations of units of measurement from the previous digit (16 km; 15 UAH; 6 thousand); initials and surname (V. Antonovich); abbreviations after lists (etc., etc.); before geographical names (village Krylos, city Ivano-Frankivsk, river Prut).
Use abbreviations: r., rr., st. (before the abbreviation – a non-breaking space). Abbreviations such as 60-ti, 3-go should be printed through a non-breaking hyphen (simultaneously pressing the Ctrl+Shift+Hyphen keys). Time and numerical intervals should be formatted through a middle dash without spaces (May–June; 1870–1910, 7–8).
Submit the author’s comment in parentheses (in a straight font), after the middle dash – the author’s initials (in italics), for example: (First World War – O. E.)
Footnotes (explanations, comments, clarifications, “lyrical digressions”) should be formatted using links automatically at the bottom of the corresponding page (dialog box
“Footnotes/Links” with parameters: footnotes – at the bottom of the page; format – other – asterisk symbol *). Point size – 12.
Submit illustrations (photos, drawings) in a separate file. Illustrations should be numbered in the order of their location in the text, for example 01.tif, 02.jpg. In electronic form, illustrations should be made in high quality (saved in *.tif, *.eps or *.jpg formats). Each illustration in the text must have a reference (see Fig. 2). Captions should be submitted directly under the illustration.
Tables should be submitted in the text (font size – 10–12, line spacing – 1). They should be numbered in the order of their location in the text. Each table in the text must have a reference (see Table 3). Tables should be typed in Word.
2. Article structure
UDC – on a separate line, on the left before the name of the author(s);
author(s) name – on the next line after the UDC, centered, in bold;
–place and address of work (without abbreviations);
– e-mail;
– DOI index (assigned by the editors)
ORCID code (orcid.org);
title of the publication – through a line – centered, bold;
an abstract in Ukrainian (point size – 12, line spacing – 1.0), which should be submitted through a line after the title of the article (1–1.5 thousand characters with spaces), should contain information about the originality of the research, the purpose, objectives of the research; methodology (methods, scientific approaches); main results of the research; prospects for further studies; practical significance of the achieved results, impact on society, policy;
keywords (6–8 words) – on a separate line after the abstract (“Keywords” should be highlighted in italics);
the main text of the article should contain:
a general statement of the problem and its connection with important scientific or practical tasks;
analysis of recent research and publications in which the solution of the problem was initiated and on which the author relies;
highlighting previously unresolved parts of the general problem to which the article is devoted;
formulation of the objectives of the article (statement of the task);
presentation of the main material of the study with a full justification of the scientific results obtained;
conclusions from the study and prospects for further research.
References - after the main text (the name of the REFERENCES section should be presented in capital letters in bold) - a list of used literature and published sources ALPHABETICALLY in Latin script (titles of publications written in Cyrillic should be transliterated, in Latin - duplicated; references and archival sources - do not submit). Sources should be submitted in the References list only once, regardless of the number of references in the article (for details, see Samples of Sources and Literature Formatting and References). There is no numbering of positions in References, all positions should be submitted in alphabetical order. If a position occupies more than one line, each subsequent line should be indented by one tab character. Online transliteration from Ukrainian to English in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated January 27, 2010 No. 55 "On the Systematization of Transliteration of the Ukrainian Alphabet into the Latin Alphabet" (current). (http://ukrlit.org/transliteratsiia). After the transliterated text, place the similar text translated into English in square brackets.
After References (with a single line), submit an abstract in English (SUMMARY) – 1.8–2 thousand characters with spaces (point size – 12, line spacing – 1.0): name, surname, title of publication, place and address of work, abstract and keywords.
At the end of the article, a certificate about the author should be sent.
3. Requirements for the design of bibliographical references
Bibliographic references should be placed on each page automatically (footnotes – at the bottom of the page; number format “1, 2, 3,…”; numbered lists – continue). The footnote sign should be placed before the punctuation mark (colon, semicolon, comma, period), and not after it.
Bibliographic references should be submitted in the original language in the following sequence:
surname and initials of the author(s) – in bold, between the initials, as well as between the initials and the surname – a continuous space;
title of the work;
information about the responsible persons (compiler, compiler, responsible editor, etc.), after a slash; if there are several such persons, put a colon before the surnames :
information about the publication (for example: 11th ed., supplement and revision);
source data (city (in full!), publisher, year of publication);
information about the series (number of the journal, issue, volume);
pages to which the reference is made or the total number of pages (if the reference is to the entire document).
Blocks of bibliographical references should be separated by a period.
In case of repeated reference:
– if the repeated reference is given immediately after the primary one, then its text should be replaced with an abbreviation: Cyrillic – Там само, Latin – Ibid. If the reference is to another page – add its number.
