Abstract

The article describes the way of life and socio-political activity of the long-time parish of the Greek-Catholic Church, pr. Nikolai Vynnytsky (1868–1929). The pastoral relationship with the Polish community of the city, Ukrainian organizations, and influence on local self-government are analyzed. Specific examples show his pastoral and political activities, which ultimately resulted in his imprisonment by the Austrian authorities and the creation of an Orthodox parish in the city.
