Abstract

The fragment of the author’s article concerns aspects of the church art of Galician. The researcher advocates a view of the harmonious combination of the Byzantine-Rus’ and Romanesque styles in it, which became possible due to the comprehensive external influences on local architectural traditions. The author analyzed in detail the following Galician temples: the Assumption Cathedral and the Church of the Savior of the 12th century, the Church of St. Panteleimon of the end of the 12th century and the church of the Nativity of the 14th century. The author remarks the partial conservation of frescoes, occasionally irretrievably lost, on the examples of other monuments of sacred architecture.
