Abstract

The article deals with the reconstruction of the biography of the representative of the Galician elite of the 12th century, voivode Tudor Elchych. The period of his activity verified by the narrative sources covers 1159–1180. It can be assumed that he was born no later than in the first half of the 30s of the 12th century and began his career during the reign of Vlodymyrko Volodarevych. In 1159 Tudor acted as a voivode of Yaroslav Volodymyrkovych leading the Galician troops that were sent to help Svyatoslav Olgovych, the Prince of Chernihiv. Tudor held the post of voivode at least till 1180, after which he disappears from the pages of the annals. Died after 1180. Nothing is know about his kinship and possessions.
