Abstract

Current material, which is a part of the author’s lengthy book dedicated to the history of Rus, touches the first mentions of Halych on the pages of the Western European Latin-language material. The author thinks that the data from the Hungarian-Polish chronicle compared with the other narrative memorials of various time periods, allows to admit the belonging of Halych (Salis-Galis) to the state of the first Piasts in the XI century, with the corresponding ecclesiastical and institutional consequences. Henryk Pashkevych believes that the inhabitants of the Halych land did not associate themselves with Rus until the thirteenth century, even despite the fact that they’ve entered the possessions of the Kyiv Riurykovyches.
