Kosniatyn Siroslavovych, voivode, the Galician elites, Halych.Abstract
The article attempts to recreate the biography of voivode Kosniatyn Siroslavovych, one of the most famous representatives of the Galician elites of the twelfth century. As confirmed by sources, the period of his activity covers 1156 / 1157–1171/1172. It can be assumed that he was born not later than in the first half of the 20s of the 12th century and began his career during the reign of Volodymyrko Volodarevych. During 1156/157–1170/1171, Kosniatyn was a voivode of Halych and belonged to Yaroslav Volodymyrkovych’s immediate entourage. He died after 1171/1172. There is no reason to believe that Kosniatyn Siroslavovych and Volodyslav Kormylchych had family ties, or to link the boyar with the founding of the town of Sniatyn in the Lowlands of Halych.
