The article is devoted to a prominent figure of the Ukrainian Middle Ages, the first half of the 13th century, Princess Hanna – the second wife of Roman the Great, the mother of King Daniel. In fact, the focus is on the period of the Princess’s regency over her young sons Daniel and Vasyl. This period coincided with the Romanovs’ struggle for the return of their father’s Galician throne. Thus, the author recreates the role of the mother – Princess Hanna in the preservation and return to the sons of the father’s inheritance. The Princess is depicted as a successful diplomat who is up to the task. Remaining a mother, the Princess rose to understand the tasks of the state, in particular, N. Polonska)Vasylenko attributes to her the final decision of Daniel before the adoption of the royal crown.
