УКРАЇНСЬКА ГІМНАЗІЙНА ОСВІТА НА ПОКУТТІ В КІНЦІ ХІХ – НА ПОЧАТКУ ХХ ст.

У статті проаналізовано діяльність двох українських гімназій на Покутті в кінці ХІХ – на початку ХХ ст.: державної гімназії у м. Коломия та приватної гімназії Руського (Українського) педагогічного товариства в м. Городенка. Розкрито передумови появи українських гімназійних навчаль- них закладів, висвітлено основні ділянки навчально-виховної роботи та простежено участь їхніх педагогів і вихованців у розвої громадського життя краю. Наголошується, що поява цих гімназій на Покутті стала результатом багаторічної наполегливої праці української громадськості. Її кращі пред- ставники вважали необхідним здобуття молоддю середньої освіти як основи формування національної еліти, котра зможе фахово представляти й обстоювати інтереси власного народу.
