FATHER DMYTRO KUBAIEVYCH: THE PAGES OF THE ACCOUNT FILE (Part 3)

Abstract

In the article, the authors continue the publication of the third part of the materials of the accounting file of the priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Father Dmytro Kubaievych (1890–1980), which is now stored under No. 490 in the Archives of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ternopil region (at the address: Ternopil, Valova St., 11). The authors of the publication sought to preserve the authenticity of the document as much as possible when translating it from Russian into Ukrainian.

The article highlights the following eleven documents from the accounting file: 1) a certificate «on the family of a gang accomplice» of Dmytro Ivanovych Kubaievych dated March 3, 1950; 2) an extract from the protocol No. 12 of the Special Meeting at the USSR Ministry of State Security on the personal file of Dmytro Ivanovych Kubaievych dated March 18, 1950; 3) a notification from the Ternopil Oblast Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the storage of archival file No. 490 on Dmytro Ivanovych Kubaievych dated October 16, 1954; 4) a complaint from citizen Koshil Yevgen Yakymovych to the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on the review of the case of Dmytro Ivanovych Kubaievych dated August 2, 1954; 5) a letter from the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Tomsk Region of the RSFSR to the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Ternopil Oblast on the case of Kubaievych dated August 26, 1954; 6) complaint of citizen Koshil Yevgen Yakymovych to the head of the UMDB in the Tomsk region of the RSFSR about reviewing the case of Kubaievych Dmytro Ivanovych dated August 2, 1954; 7) letter from the UMVD for the Ternopil region of the Ukrainian SSR to the head of the 1st special department of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding receiving the archival accounting file on Kubaievych Dmytro Ivanovych dated September 22, 1954; 8) letter from the head of the 1st special department of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs to the UMVD for the Ternopil region of the Ukrainian SSR regarding sending the archival accounting file on Kubaievych Dmytro Ivanovych dated October 5, 1954; 9) conclusion of the operative officer of the 1st special department of the UMVD for the Ternopil region on considering the complaint of Koshil Yevgen Yakymovych dated October 22, 1954; 10) letter from the Department of Internal Affairs for the Ternopil region of the Ukrainian SSR to the head of the Kopychinsky Regional Department of the Department of Internal Affairs on the response to the complaint of Koshil Yevhen Yakymovych dated October 25, 1954; 11) conclusion of an employee of the Department of Internal Affairs department in the Ternopil region on the review of the case of Kubaievych Dmytro Ivanovych dated August 7, 1995.

The published documents reveal the mechanisms of the repressive policy of the Soviet totalitarian regime, clearly show the fictitiousness of the priest‟s accusations of «gang affiliation» and outline the true reason for the eviction – loyalty to the Greek Catholic Church.
