The discussion round table was held on the initiative of the National Reserve “Ancient Halych” in cooperation with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Ivan Franko on March 27, 2025. Leading specialists and researchers of the medieval history of Ukraine and Central and Eastern Europe from four cities – Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine), and Kraków (Poland) – took part in the discussion. During the round table, the moderator formulated a number of key issues, to which the invited speakers provided substantiated answers based on their many years of research. The scholarly discussion lasted more than 180 minutes, and the participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in the study of the first princely dynasty of Halych – the Rostislavovid family. The final title and theme of the round table were proposed by Dr. Vitaliy Nagirnyy from Kraków, who emphasized the need to revisit and deepen the study of this princely lineage within the context of the history of Halych and the Principality of Halych. At the same time, at the suggestion of Dr. Olexsandr Holovko from Kyiv, the discussion round table was organized as part of the commemoration of the 900th anniversary of the first recorded mention of the princely residence in Halych.
