The contemporary translation perception of the Ukrainian literature in the Czech Republic
Aim. The purpose of the investigation is to analyse current trends in the field of contemporary Czech translation of Ukrainian literature, to consider the prospects of Ukrainian-Czech literary and cultural relations at the present stage. Methods. Cultural-historical, comparative and receptive-critical methods are used in the work. The role of the Ukrainian literature in the Czech-speaking environment is considered from direct contacts between writers of both countries, through translations to the latest critical reception, book forums, translation competitions and publishing process in the Czech Republic. Results. The article provides a brief overview of the history of the translation perception of the works by Ukrainian writers in the Czech language from the 90s of the 20th century till present. Current trends in the field of translation of modern Ukrainian fiction into Czech are outlined; little-known facts from the history of Czech-Ukrainian literary relations have been introduced into Ukrainian professional circulation. The scientific novelty of the research is due to the lack of domestic literary studies of the translation perception of the Ukrainian literature in the Czech language of the post-Soviet period and its current state, as well as the need to lay a solid foundation for further studies in this field. Practical meaning. The material of the article can be used in teaching university courses of theory and history of translation, as well as in further study of the Ukrainian and Czech literary relations and writing educational materials, tutorials and textbooks.
