Abstract

The article traces the traditional approaches to the use of biographical method in pedagogical theory and practice. Based on a critical analysis of the scientific heritage of M.Rybnikov and A. Pinkevich it is proved the need of systematic study of the famous people biographies or their fragments, diversification of the biographical materials (biographical facts, works, letters, memories, etc.), problematization of the biographical content, taking into account the stages of learning, educational goals, age, interests and prospects for the development of the students studying at pedagogical specializations. The examples illustrate the methodological approaches to the biographical method in higher educational establishments in classes of pedagogical disciplines. The criteria for using of the biographical materials in the system of higher pedagogical education are formulated.
