The article presents the pedagogical ideas of developing preschoolers' tolerance through children's literature (the second half of the 20th – the beginning of the 21st century) and defines the main conditions and methods of their effective implementation in the educational process of preschool education institutions (PEI). The selection criteria and a list of works for children on the topic of tolerance are proposed. Some methodological aspects of analyzing the stories and fairy tales of V. Sukhomlynsky, N.Gerbish, and K. Babkina are outlined. The effectiveness of various methods and forms of working with preschool children have been proven, in particular: reading, storytelling, conversations based on what has been read, dramatizations, story roleplaying games, etc., to educate them in a tolerant attitude towards others.
