Abstract

In past years, interest in synthetic aluminum hydroxides has increased in nanostructured form. Metastable alumina phases are hugely important technological materials with a high specific surface area with promising applications in modern catalysts, batteries, absorbents, medicine, targeted drug delivery, composite materials, and ceramics.

This article aims to explore the synthesis of aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles through electrochemical methods and to examine their physical properties. It is demonstrated that aluminum hydroxide nanocrystals can be produced using an electrolytic method that employs aluminum electrodes and a solution of common table salt as the electrolyte. The study found that synthesis parameters, particularly temperature, significantly affect the size of the aluminum hydroxide nanocrystals. The dimensions of the resulting nanocrystals of AlO(OH) and Al(OH)3 were determined using the Scherrer and Williamson-Hall methods; additionally, relative elongations for AlO(OH) nanocrystals were obtained using the Williamson-Hall method.
