Abstract

European society, which is focused on knowledge and personal development, creates a favourable environment for educational institutions, at the same time it places high demands on them. Of particular importance is the need to reform educational systems for the effective integration of art education into the broad context of the development of critical thinking, creativity and cultural openness that meets the current requirements of modern globalized culture.

The article deals with the organisation of the educational process and training of future specialists in art education in European countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Sweden, etc.

We have investigated that modern European higher education institutions demonstrate various models of the educational process for the development of art teachers' competences.

It is determined that art teachers should not only have artistic skills, but also demonstrate the ability to teach effectively art to students. This requires the following competencies: methodological, professional and artistic, psychological and pedagogical, and communicative. Thus, successful teacher training in this area requires the integration of artistic experience with pedagogical skills, which contributes to academic and professional mobility throughout life, and the development of a personality in educational institutions.
