The article examines the historical prose of Petro Kraliuk, in particular his novels about Prince Vasyl-Konstantyn Ostrohsky and Hetman Petro Konashevych-Sagaydachny, which make up the so-called "Ostroh cycle" of the writer. It is emphasized that modern historical prose undergoes genre changes, and Petro Kraliuk's experience as a historical fiction writer is a classic one.
