Submission Procedure
The Journal of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. Biology accepts original scholarly manuscripts that fall within the journal’s scope, have not been published previously, and are not under consideration elsewhere.
1. General Requirements
Manuscripts must be submitted in English. By submitting a manuscript, the author(s):
confirm the originality of the work;
agree to the journal’s editorial policies;
confirm that the manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal;
accept responsibility for the accuracy of the data, proper citation of sources, and compliance with publication ethics requirements.
2. Manuscript Preparation Requirements
The manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format and prepared in accordance with the current journal template.
A manuscript should contain:
article title;
author name(s);
affiliation, city, country;
ORCID iD;
corresponding author’s e-mail address;
abstract;
keywords;
main text of the article;
where applicable, acknowledgements, funding information, data availability statement, declarations, conflict of interest statement;
references.
Recommended Structure of the Manuscript
For research articles, the following structure is recommended:
Introduction
Materials and Methods
Results and Discussion
Conclusions
For review articles, the following structure is recommended:
Introduction
Literature Review / Main Discussion
Conclusions
3. Abstract and Keywords
The abstract should be informative, concise, and reflect:
the purpose of the study;
the main approaches or methods;
the principal results;
the scientific novelty and/or practical significance;
the main conclusions.
The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
The number of keywords should be 4 to 8.
For authors from Ukraine, the journal may additionally require certain elements in Ukrainian in accordance with current editorial requirements.
4. Citations and References
References must be prepared in APA style. Only sources cited in the text should be included in the reference list. Authors are expected, where available, to provide DOIs or valid active URLs for online sources.
5. Tables, Figures, Formulae, and Supplementary Files
Tables, figures, graphs, and other illustrative materials must be:
placed within the text at appropriate points;
numbered and captioned;
suitable for editing;
of adequate technical quality.
Where necessary, the editorial office may request separate files for figures, tables, or supplementary materials.
6. Accompanying Documents
Together with the manuscript, the author(s) should submit:
a cover letter;
where applicable, documents confirming ethical approval of the research;
a conflict of interest statement;
any other documents required by the journal’s policies or by editorial request.
If the journal requires a signed cover letter, it should be uploaded separately in PDF format.
7. Submission Procedure
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s electronic submission system.
To submit a manuscript, the author should:
register on the journal website or log in to an existing account;
review the Author Guidelines, editorial policies, licensing terms, and copyright conditions;
prepare the manuscript in accordance with the journal requirements and template;
prepare all accompanying files and documents;
begin a new submission through the journal system;
complete the manuscript metadata;
upload the manuscript and additional files;
confirm compliance with the Submission Preparation Checklist;
finalize the submission and receive confirmation from the system.
8. Initial Check After Submission
After submission, the editorial office carries out an initial technical screening. At this stage, the manuscript is checked for:
relevance to the journal’s scope;
completeness of metadata;
compliance with formatting requirements;
presence of required accompanying documents;
compliance with basic publication ethics requirements.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision before editorial consideration begins.
9. Further Consideration
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial check proceed to preliminary editorial evaluation and then to peer review in accordance with the journal’s Peer Review Policy.
10. Important Note
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of metadata, correctness of manuscript formatting, completeness of submitted documents, and compliance with the journal’s requirements at the time of submission.
